Welcome to gman reviews. Today we will offer the Boneraiser Minions Doll Maker class guide. So why did I start with this class? Well, it’s because, in my opinion, this class is the most difficult to play.
Your starting minions seem pretty weak. The lack of skelly, daemonic, and most giant minions means you must understand this class well to make it work, as this class is very different from the others.
That being said, this class has some strong points, which are:
- Easy access to haste on minions
- Unlimited high-level wax boss minions
- Access to Bro minions
The last point is not necessarily making it more potent than other classes, just that you can still access Bro Minions.
When I said unlimited high-level minions, I referred to the High Wizard, Lord of the Land and Lunatic Fanatic minions.
So basically, as the doll maker, you can bone-raise bosses you would encounter in the game, and while they are not as powerful as their boss versions apart from the Bro minions, they are some of the most powerful you can get.
This class is much more dependent on hero souls than any other, as you need hero souls to access these high-level minions and multiple in the Lord of the Land case.
The High Wizard and the Lunatic Fanatic are easier to access than the Lord of the Land. The High Wizard minions require a hero soul and sacrificing two Level 3 wizards to raise, and you should prioritise getting these first if you can.
The High Wizards shoot out a stream of projectiles that will kill many enemies it runs into, and it homes in on enemies. They work well for crowd control, and the wizard minion is pretty powerful, as their projectile can hit multiple minions.
The next boss minion is the Lunatic Fanatic, and while, in my opinion, it is not as powerful as the other two boss minions, it’s still pretty powerful, and you should get it if you can. It requires a hero soul and two Level 3 fanatics, which is also pretty easy to get.
It works well with the relic that allows critical hits for ranged minions, as its ball will hit many enemies when you are swarmed by minions.
The last boss minion is the Lord of the Land, and this one is the melee boss minion. It hits many enemies in melee, but it is tough to get because it requires you to upgrade from a peasant to a champion and then from a champion to the Lord of the Land, so while it requires a sacrifice of one minion, it requires multiple hero souls to get.
The Lord of Land is the last boss minion I go for as it’s so challenging to get, as hero souls don’t come often.
General Wax Minions Discussion
So off the top of my head, the wax minions the doll maker class gets access to are the following:
- Peasant
- Fanatic
- Wizard
- Beggar
- Bandit
- Cannibal
- Archer
The peasant is probably the weakest of the minions as it does damage when it walks into an enemy, and these will not hold the line very well but can be upgraded to a Lord of the Land over time.
The fanatic spins are flail (ball on a chain) and do damage to enemies when they make contact with the ball or the fanatic themselves.
All in all, apart from being able to be upgraded to a Lunatic Fanatic, in my opinion, these are pretty weak because unless enemies are swarming you, you will not hit very much with the ball.
Next, we come to the wizard, who is probably my favourite minion. The reason is that their projectile damage all enemies they contact, which means if there are swarms of enemies, each projectile will damage multiple enemies. Their upgrading to High Wizards makes them that much better.
The Beggar is one that I don’t often use as it seems to run at enemies with a torch and, at level 2, acts like a weak Pumpkin minion. I rather have a pumpkin minion than these, to be honest.
The Bandit is another class that I don’t use as apart from providing extra gems and coins, sometimes, when attacking human minions, it doesn’t do much else.
Typically when you play as the doll maker class, you struggle to survive, so don’t waste a bone raise slot on one of these.
Next, we come to the Cannibal, who can be upgraded to the Cannibal Shaman with two of them (without requiring a hero soul). The Cannibal is an interesting minion I like in theory but don’t use often.
So the Cannibal is a melee minion that can get you an extra bone when it attacks a human minion, which is most of them. In theory, it’s a good minion, and the cannibal shaman gives other cannibal haste and increases their damage by 66% per cent, which is good.
The only problem is that I find that you are offered cannibals so rarely, so amassing a swarm of them with some shamans is going to be very unlikely.
The archer is the last class, and it is different from the wizard in that its projectile will only hit one minion even when it levels up to level 3, but at level three, it shoots arrows in multiple directions. Hence, it’s debatable whether this class of the wizard is better.
Bro Minions
So Bro minions will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting of the class initially, and the Bro minions we will discuss are the:
- Zombie
- Pumpkin
- Eggy
You should take the zombie bro at the earliest opportunity possible because this minion can turn human minions into more zombies.
This works well for numerous reasons:
- Increases minion count in addition to boneraise
- A regular Bro minion can sometimes be sacrificed to get a random big Bro minion
For these reasons, the zombie minion is one of the best bro minions you can get, as it is a catalyst for getting better minions.
Also, all the big bro minions are pretty good, so if you get the random option, it doesn’t matter which big bro you get; they’re pretty much all awesome.
The pumpkin minion is another good one, as it is excellent for crowd control, which the doll maker class needs.
Eggy bro is the last one I will discuss, and the reason this bro minion is so good is that it could potentially turn into any minion, including a Lord of the Land, so you should get it if you get the option, but boss minions come first.
